Considered the town’s main recreational area, John Peake Park welcomes visitors to the heart of the community, the 2.65 square kilometer Chestermere Lake.

Bassett Associates partnered with the municipality to develop a comprehensive landscape architecture program that would serve a multitude of uses. Our design incorporates a meandering, lake-edge bulkhead wall that accommodates small craft day mooring, an essential feature for a facility that hosts hundreds of boaters each season. A lit, tree-lined promenade encourages visitors to stroll along the shore and savour wonderful lake vistas year round. The park’s keynote is a grassed amphitheatre with raised covered stage. This centerpiece offers outstanding opportunities for a range of outdoor entertainment including summer festivals, musical events and live theatre. Rounding out the area is a day-use boat launch and parking facility.
